Sunshine came into our lives aged 3. She was from a rescue home, we had no idea why anyone would
want to give her up as she was the most laid back (blonde!) caring dog ever! She was so well natured
and no one ever thought twice about her being with my daughter when she was a baby. They were best
friends. Sunshine did get a little jealous when Soroya came home for the first time, but then they
became the best of friends. She never barked or made any noise, so would have been a terrible guard
dog! I remember we only had a short while when she decided to jump into our pond and sit down - our
pond being a barrel! She wasn't trained on the lead so we had some trouble with that, we took her to
training classes...didn't help much though! She was still as crazy as ever after the last lesson. No
one could ever believe her age when they asked as she always acted like she was 6 months, right up
until her last day. Her death really did come as a shock and hit us hard. Its so strange not having
her around, the house feels so empty. Mac the Cat misses having a swipe at her and playing with her
ever wagging tail. They loved eachother - although Sunshine did think he was a 'Big' Mac when we
first brought him home!!

Well Sunshine i do hope you're looking after my beautiful Nan, who passed away only 9 days after
you.

Love you always Sunshine Lulu Pippy Dog

Ask My Mum How She Is...

My Mum, she tells a lot of lies,
She never did before.
But from now until she dies,
She'll tell a whole lot more.

Ask my Mum how she is
And because she can't explain,
She will tell a little lie
Because she can't describe the pain.

Ask my Mum how she is,
She'll say "I'm alright."
If that's the truth, then tell me,
why does she cry each night ?

Ask my Mum how she is,
She seems to cope so well.
She didn't have a choice you see,
Nor the strength to yell.

Ask my Mum how she is,
"I'm fine, I'm well, I'm coping."
For God's sake Mum, just tell the truth,
Just say your heart is broken.

She'll love me all her life,
I loved her all of mine.
But if you ask her how she is,
She'll lie and say she's fine.

I am Here in Heaven.
I cannot hug her from here.
If she lies to you don't listen,
Hug her and hold her near.

On the day we meet again,
We'll smile and I'll be bold.
I'll say, "You're lucky to get in here, Mum,
With all the lies you told!"

Remember the Love

Goodbye can be the saddest word,
And often it is not a word we are
prepared for but at a time like this,
words that would make a difference are few.

We are always taught that everything has a season
And that though the summer must go to make room
for autumn and winter, there is always a spring.
Somehow those words don’t seem to be enough at a time like this.

They are meant to comfort, to console,
but often leave us feeling hollow.
The real comfort comes in knowing that we’ve care,
that we’ve invested ourselves, and that we’ve loved.
The void is something no one can deny or fill or talk away with words,
But in grief we feel the magnitude of love.

Though our loss is heavy, we must realize that our love was a great blessing in the life of one.....

Who heard the call to come home.

Love Shines Through
Like a shadow in the moonlight
Like the whisper of the seas
Like the echoes of a melody
Just beyond our reach
In the shadow of our sorrow
Past the whisper of goodbye
Love shines through eternity
A heartbeat from our eye

For animal lovers

I shall walk in the Sun above,

Whose golden light you loved.

I shall sleep alone and, stirring, touch an empty place.

I shall write uninterrupted.

Would that your gentle paw could stir my moving

pen just once again.

I shall see beauty, but none to match

your living grace.

I shall hear music, but none so sweet as the

droning song with which you loved me.

I shall fill my days, but I shall not, can not, forget.

Sleep soft dear friend, for while I live

You shall not die."

ONE MAN'S SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO A DOG

The one absolutely unselfish friend that
a man can have in this selfish world,
the one that never deserts him,
the one that never proves ungrateful
or treacherous, is his dog.

A man's dog stands by him in prosperity
and in poverty,
in health and in sickness.
He will sleep on the cold ground where
the wintery winds blow,
and the snow drives fiercely,
if only he may be near his master's
side. He will kiss the hand that has no
food to offer, he will lick the sores
and wounds that come in encounter with
the roughness of the world. He guards
the sleep of his Pauper master as if he
were a prince.

When all other friends desert,
he remains.
When riches take wings and reputation
falls to pieces, he is as constant in
his love as the sun in it's journey
through the heavens.
If misfortune drives the master forth
an outcast in the world, friendless
and homeless, the faithful dog asks
no higher privilege than that of
accompanying him to guard against
danger, to fight against his enemies.

And when the last scene of all comes,
and death takes the master in it's
embrace, and his body is laid away in
the cold ground, no matter if all other
friends pursue their way, there by the
graveside will the noble dog be found,
his head between his paws, his eyes sad,
but open in alert watchfulness,
faithful and true, even in death.

-From a speech given by
Former Senator George Graham Vest
of Missouri. Delivered in 1870 when he
was acting as a lawyer in a suit against
a man who had killed the dog of his
client. -- He won the case.

Solace
From the silence of your pain I heard my name
and on the wings of light I have come
to see the sadness in your eyes
that cry without tears

Can you see me, I am here
I will always be near you
to calm your shattered heart
and to make you smile at the memories

Do you feel me, perhaps a soft brush of fur
You ache to believe it's real
but you are afraid to hope
You brush away a strand of hair
But it was I, whispering.....

I am only here for but a moment
The silver thread gently quivers
I will leave behind my love in a dream
When you awaken, and without really knowing why

Your heart will know at last
That it is all right, for now
to say good-bye

30th September 2009 with love

Precious Memory
The rain may wash my pain away
The wind may dry my tears
The Summer sun may heal my heart
And time subdue my fears
But nothing in the world below
Or in the Heavens above
Will ever take away
The precious memory of your love

xXxXx

They will not go quietly,
the pets who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.

Old habits still can make us think
we hear them at the door
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.

Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometimes, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.

And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

For Leanne & Diane xxx

•♥• My Forever Pet •♥•

There's something missing in my home
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
Before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn
My heart -- it needs to mend,
Though some may say, "It's just a pet"
I know I've lost a friend.

You've brought such laughter to my home
And richness to my days,
A constant friend through joy or loss
With gentle, loving ways.

Companion, friend, and confidante
A friend I won't forget,
You'll live forever in my heart
My sweet, forever pet.
